Programming Tips And Copyright Information

TechNES is a has been released to the general public under the GNU GPL, version 3, as has been its predecessor (Nessie 1.02). This means TechNES is not only free to download and use, but is also free to redistribute (without *.nes files, naturally) and free to reprogram/modify.

This program (as well as Nessie) was created as a PE executable using RosAsm (an open-source Intel assembly language IDE). To view the source code and edit/reprogram TechNES, simply download the "programmer's package," extract the contents of the package into any folder on the computer and open the executable file in RosAsm. As this program is based on Nessie 1.02, the same can be done to Nessie and it is highly encouraged to apply the same changes to Nessie 1.02 as you would to TechNES.

An alternative to editing the executable itself from the "programmer's package" would be to download the "source code package" (which includes all needed resources, icons and other files,) open the assembly language source file in RosAsm and completely rebuild the program from scratch.

If any changes have been made to either TechNES, please e-mail a copy of the re-assembled executable to TechEmporium at techemporium.info@gmail.com. If any changes have been made to Nessie (or if any changes in TechNES have been applied to Nessie,) please e-mail the re-assembled executable Martin Strand at nessie@nessiehome.cjb.net.
